The YouTube Time Machine is based on the idea that many people hunting for videos on YouTube are really searching for nostalgia. To this end, the site lets you filter videos by year and subject – for example, music and sports videos from 1975.
The date slider and category switches make the YouTube Time Machine very easy to use. Moreover, most years and categories seem to have a good stock of clips (the developer reckons there are currently more than 4,000) and you can help build the database by submitting your own interesting videos.
