How to add Gadgets to GMail sidebar

imageGMail has now become the backbone of most of the internet savvy people. With lots of features getting added day by day, here is some interesting info on about adding some cool and useful Gadgets to your GMail sidebar.

Gadgets are miniature projects developed by the Google users. Gadgets might come in handy when you’re at work (to-do list, currency converter, calendar), at school (calculator, Wikipedia, translation tool), or just passing time (news, blogs, games). You can add gadgets you like to iGoogle and, if you have Google Desktop installed, you can also add gadgets to your computer’s desktop.

For eg. add ToDo list widget or Sticky Notes widget to GMail side bars as shown below

Step 1.

Go to the Lbas page from the Settings –> Labs or by clicking on image

Step 2.

Enable the ‘Add any gadget by URL’ as shown below

Step 3.

Get the XML URL of the widget to be added.

Gadgets can be found either from iGoogle page or from Gadgets gallery. Browse the gadgets library and choose the required gadgets. Get the XML url from address bar as shown below

Step 4.

Finally add this copied XML url to the Setting –> Gadgets as shown below.

The gadget should now appear in GMail left sidebar.
